Oral correction: more to it than meets the eye

 

 

Most of us tend to correct students while they're trying to get their grammar right (accuracy) and avoid or delay correction when they're trying to convey their own meanings (fluency). In this session I will argue that this may be the easiest thing to do, but not always the most effective.

 

 

Luiz Otávio Barros (M.A. Hons, Lancaster University) is an experienced author and teacher educator. Formerly head of teacher training at Cultura Inglesa São Paulo, head of research and development at Associação Alumni and BRAZ-TESOL's second vice president, Luiz Otávio is one of the authors behind the English ID series.
