The Five C’s of Grammar – Thinking Grammatical Structures More Critically - Workshop
As stated by Diane Larsen-Freeman in her Grammar Dimensions, the teaching of grammar might at times be downplayed if too much emphasis is placed on communication only. One must keep in mind, however, that if our goal is to enable students to become successful communicators in English, a crucial means to this end is to teach them to use grammatical structures. Based on and adapted from five simple critical thinking strategies as described by Rob King, co-author of Inquiry: A Student Handbook for 21st Century Learning, this highly hands-on workshop will explore ways to help students become aware of other dimensions of grammar – with a special focus on the English verb system - by having them look at it more critically and expand their depth of thinking it.
